With one more day to go before we embrace a brand new year, I’ve decided to do my annual look back on the year gone by. To me, it’s been a great 2010 filled with lots of new challenges, changes and rewards. I’m happy really and I couldn’t ask for more but let’s take a look at my year in pictures and see how colourful it’s been.

January – A time to dress up

First up January was rather slow, like all first months of the year but there was a fairy tale wedding I attended. None other than celebrity couple Candyce and JunYang. Lot’s of familiar faces from the industry, stars and a theme of silver which made the wedding more glamorous.

Funny enough this was one of the very few photos I took that day and everyone in that photo has left Power98fm…..hmmm I’m having a “back to the future” moment. Great Scott!!

February – No. 8 host’s in front of thousands

The start of February was kinda fun cos I was featured in CLEO magazine’s 50 most eligible bachelors. I was given the No.8 so that kinda became my nickname on air…..bachelor No.8

Well as bachelor No.8, I hosted the Boys like Girls concert at Resorts World Sentosa which not only marked the first time i was there but the first time I’ve hosted in front of 3000 people.

I mean just looking at the photo above you can tell that the energy from the crowd was amazing. I had to be escorted by security when I went into the crowd to meet some screaming female fans.

That was really a fun gig, first time I got to feel the superstar vibe….haha!

March – Time to meet the stars

I’d say that March was really when things started to pick up for me. In terms of work, opportunities and also meeting the stars, which is kinda a norm in my area of work.

Well it started off with meeting Paramore. Hailey of course I saw backstage while conducting an interview with bassist Jeremy. I was pretty happy about this because I’m a big fan of Paramore and i got to meet them along with my younger brother who’s an even bigger fan.

Thank you Warner Music

After meeting Paramore, I interviewed Adam Lambert. Turns out this would not be the last time I meet him……

For so long I’ve been used to being the one hosting on stage, never a contestant. Sometime in the last week of March I took the stage for the yearly CLEO magazine 50 most eligible bachelors finals. Oh man this was a blast, I still remember that night to be some of the most fun I’ve had in a long time.

Thank you CLEO!

Well there you have it, I did the catwalk……hahaha!

April – The Fray hogs the 4th month of the year

The Fray would be the highlight of April, first time meeting the band at an interview I found out alot about their story starting up and I must say these are one of the nicest guys in the industry.

Don’t be fooled by the picture, they are actually alot bigger in size in person.

May – Playing superhero

Power98fm was the official radio station for Iron Man 2 and Singapore’s very own Iron Man….me, haha was on hand to great the fans at the exclusive Iron Man 2 premier at the Cathay.

And thanks to Moviemania, I borrowed this suit to make my appearance. This was fun, we had some very sporting fans of the station and my radio show who came up to take pics and chat abit.

Thank you Reno and Conrad of Moviemania

June – Charity month

Just like Jack and Rai would put it, there must always be a day in your year where you set aside to do charity to give thanks for the talent that has been bestowed upon you and to help those in need.

Together with acts like Jack and Rai, Sebastian and myself hosted the Bare Your Sole charity walk by Habitat for Humanity. Each DJ also helped raise funds for them on-air and at our blogs as well.

This was a very satisfying experience being able to use our on-air presence for a good cause.

July – Saying goodbye

Emo month alert! After almost 5 years in radio, I made a very hard decision to take a hiatus from it for an indefinite time. I knew in my heart that I would be back some day but for now, I’m gonna fly solo for abit and see what doors open up for me and if I can be more than just a radio dj…..I wanted to be an artiste.

I celebrated my new beginnings with some close friends from Safra Radio and we watched the World Cup 3rd/4th placing at the same time. I don’t remember much cos we drank quite abit that night.

Thank you Safra Radio for helping me realize my potential……good luck for the future and perhaps our paths will cross again some day.

Funny how only 4 are left from the picture above. Great Scott!!!

August – My solo run begins

First job I took up was to be a sports writer and my first ever story I wrote was about Wayne Rooney for Football Weekly and it made the cover.

And while I was writing this I never know how much I enjoyed writing about sports. I went on to write a few more stories for Football Weekly as well as a Manchester United annual, a big honour for every Man Utd fan.

September – We meet again Mr Lambert

Well I’d say September kinda marked the start of me being the unofficial host for the American Idols in Singapore. With the F1 race on, the padang staged some pretty awesome concert activity. And Sony music asked me to host the press conferences of Daughtry and Adam Lambert.

Second time meeting Adam and he recognized me from a few months ago…..hahah new best friend eh.

Now Daughtry is probably the coolest band ever. The way they handled the press con with such style was just amazing. I’m a fan boy myself but hey I had to try and act cool.

Thank you Sony Music

October – The new ElliottDanker.com

My birthday month was marked with 2 things. First I signed with an artiste management company called Artiste-E and second, the new elliottdanker.com was launched.

This brand new stylish look to the website was vital in my quest to becoming an artiste and fitting for my new image.

Thank you Sebastian

November – ED-08, My fashion label

This was a dream come true after months of planning. I launched my own fashion label ED-08 which is collaboration between me and local eco friendly label Etrican.

We have over 100 VIP guests with most of them my friends from the media industry. It was quite heart warming to see so many of these guys from different radio stations and TV shows in Singapore turn up to support me and grace the event.

Of course to me the most important people there were still my close friends and family which gave me the encouragement and support to do this.

Thank you Orchard Central for sponsoring the venue

Your American Idol host in SG is back!

David Archuletta was in town at Bugis Junction for an autograph signing session and I had the pleasure of hosting the event. More screaming girls caused me to almost lose my voice trying to speak louder than them and i had a mic somemore.

December – POPCulture Online is born

This caps off a great year and starts the brand new 2011 on a good note as well. To date, my latest project POPCulture Online, which is an online magazine about the pop cultures of east and west has gained 4000 hits in it’s first week.

Our first issue is with thanks to the support of Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures Singapore who helped us with putting Olivia Wilde on the cover as well as scoring cover interviews with Olivia Wilde and Beau Garrett and not to mention running a pretty awesome Tron Legacy contest with some fantastic prizes.

Me and the magazine’s co-founder Kenneth Wong launched the first issue on Christmas Day.

Thank you Walt Disney

January 2011 – Starting the new year already

Now I know it isn’t 2011 yet but I’ve already started it with filming dates at Mediacorp for a mandarin talkshow which will air from late January as well as a nice 6 page magazine feature.

I’m SauceINK’s bachelor of the month on their newly revamped magazine.

I really like the write up and the photos in this feature and I’m grateful cos it’s a great way to start the brand new year.

Thank you SauceINK

With that, I’d like to wish you compliments of the season and may you have a happy and blessed 2011!

Danker out!
