I love collecting movie replicas and well if you are a regular reader of my blog then you would already know that. So being a Marvel fan I was pretty excited when Hottoys announced the license for the characters from the movie Thor.

Of course it took a while before I decided to pre-order the movie replica of Thor, well mostly due to how much I liked the movie. You see, my original plan was to collect a hall of armors, Iron Man armors…..and maybe a few other favorites like Batman, Superman and Robocop.

So after I pre-ordered Thor, I decided to embark on another mission, to assemble the Avengers. In my mind this plan would work since Hottoys had the license for it and they were surely going to try and earn out of it. So then here’s where the problem starts, I saw a replica of Thor’s father, Odin. Now he’s not part of the Avengers so why would I buy it.

Had a good price too by the way but really I couldn’t just buy it for the sake of buying it. I mean the thought of having Father and Son was enticing and for a while that was nearly my main reason to get it.

But one sole purpose for getting it stood out, it’s Anothony Hopkins, a legend playing a Marvel legend. Hey we don’t know if it will still be him playing Odin in the next movie or if there will even be a next movie, the guy is old man and he is a knight.

The replica itself represents him well, with the staff and a velvet blood red cape making him look majestic as he should be as the King of Asgard.

Up close the features are realistic enough to pass off as Anthony Hopkins, don’t worry I’m not looking for life-like to the point of scary, just realistic enough that you know he’s from the movie.

So Odin joins the ranks of my Hottoys movie replicas and stands right on top of the shelf like a king. I can’t wait for Thor to arrive in Singapore, absolutely really looking forward to it.

On another note, I’m still expanding my hall of armors and I ordered the display base of the “Tony Stark Mech Test” replica. Now it’s meant to be strictly Iron Man armors hence I never bought this piece but I do like the display base.

Got it as 2 seperate pieces, one the base and backdrop and the other is the robot aka dummy as Tony Stark calls it in the movie.

I’m currently using it for my Mark 2 replica and due to it’s size it fits perfectly at the bottom shelf, resembling the workshop of Tony Stark. It’s just a foundation for the display but potentially I might add another 2 more armors to complete the look. Give it a few months till more designs are released.

I think it brings out the Mark 2 if you ask me and I especially like the base or the “floor” of the display, reminds me of when Tony Stark first suited up in the Mark 3.

Well since I’m awaiting Thor to start on my “Avengers assemble” project, I think I need a Black Widow to join the team, after all the Avengers will consist of Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, Hawk Eye and Black Widow.

Read all about my Black Widow replica in the next post.
