This was certainly a unique experience. Having watched his private showcase at Avalon the night before, I was eager to find out what the guy was really like. David Garrett is one amazing artiste on stage with loads of showmanship and he certainly seemed the type who would oblige to his fans requests. His music is another language on it’s own with the way he combines rock and translates that all from his violin.
Well he had a pretty long day before the scheduled interview with POPCulture Online and when I went into the room I could tell that he was tired. I mean it ain’t easy having to keep up a certain energy level and to meet expectations of the reporters and journalists who are going to help connect you as an artiste to your fans. Hey it’s hard work man but this guy is a model professional.
One of things during the interview that he said which stood out for me was when asked about starting as a child star if he had ever thought about giving up playing the violin, he said “All the time..” and he still does think about it. But he reflects on it by adding that “Just because you love something, doesn’t mean it’s easy” Those words really stood out for me. Having gone solo a year ago myself, leaving my comfort zone of radio, I’ve found it to be a challenge and just like him I’ve honestly thought about giving up sometimes…..yet I love being on stage or in front of camera so much that I’m willing to get back on the saddle and keep trying to be better.
This guy is an inspiration to a lot of artistes out there not just for how he’s broken barriers combining rock with violin symphonies but also because of his attitude.
