It’s been a few weeks now but the experience is still fresh in my mind! Thanks to Red Bull Racing Eyewear, I had the chance to visit the paddock of Red Bull Racing.
A surprise started at Spectacle Hut where the folks there gave each of the Power 98FM DJs a pair of Red Bull Racing Eyewear, which I proudly wore on race day!
It was just the day before that I had met Mark Webber and Sebastien Buemi while hosting an event but to be in the paddock, nothing beats that. I got to see the car being set up, engineers working away with data but what really surprised me was the general mood. Everyone was cool, they were blasting music while working and it was kinda like a BBQ.
I saw Jensen Button walk past into the MaClaren garage and the guys next door (MaClaren) looked a little tense, it was quiet and not as welcoming. The guys at Ferrari were just walking around, they seemed to be having a tour of their own and Fernando Alonso walked past as well.
Of course I stayed on later because I had an interview with Christian Horner and again just sitting there at the hospitality suite I could see the general welcoming mood of the team. Everyone was nice, they smiled and the doors to the suite was always opened. As the folks at Red Bull Racing explained to me, they wanted to have a very open concept.
I have to admit, I’m a bit taken with Red Bull Racing at the moment not for their performances on the track but having met the drivers, team principal and the people from Red Bull Racing, the Red Bull girls themselves who have just been so nice and warm about things (even though they knew who I supported……it’s funny how they tried to make me change kits….LOL) Yeah I think there’s a connection thanks to their hospitality so it probably makes sense!
Phew….thankfully no other football team can tempt me to change coats cos I’ve actually met a few Manchester United players and they were awesome!
Anyway I think special thanks needs to go out to Red Bull Racing Eyewear and Spectacle Hut as well as Power 98FM’s Promo supremo Tim, for making all of this happen.
