The recent Singapore Toy Games and Comic Convention had a surprise for Hot Toys fans living here, a full on Hot Toys booth. All of which you can read about here. Now my co-founder and me figured that since Hot Toys was going to have a booth, why not queue up for the exclusives there were made available. Just 500 pieces each of Ironman 2 Mark IV Secret Project, Batman: Batsuit Begins and Predator 2: Shadow Predator.
Being a big Ironman and Batman fan it was only natural I was gonna get the Ironman 2 Mark IV and Batman exclusives. After waiting in a queue for almost 4 hours you have no idea how relieved my co-founder and I were to find that there were still enough exclusives available when it got to our turn.
Collectors online have called this the Mark IV repainted and at first I agreed. But after looking at it at a media preview of STGCC, I realised it was more than a repaint, it was a whole new experience. Just look at the difference between them with the original Mark IV in the background. It’s something else altogether.
I struggled for a while to find a suitable pose for it before finally taking cue from my Co-Founder at POPCulture Online. Honestly it’s way cooler when posed with the head sculpt of Tony Stark with sunglasses on. Using the hands that have individual finger articulation, I was able to make the peace sign he always does in the movie and have his other arm carry the helmet.
So there you go, Robert Downey Jr hanging out in his Hall of Armors. Actually I used the Canon IXUS 220 HS to take these shots. Using the camera is part of a new media project I’m working on for Canon IXUS and will be announced very soon. These photos were taken with the Super Vivid mode which I’m a bit addicted to. I like how it brings out the colour a lot more and it does make the setting look a little comic book style.
This mode is the miniature effect where the focus is on the centre and everything else is slightly burred out….kinda cool if you ask me. The idea is to make everything behind look far away.
Now make no mistake, the Mark IV secret project is not the same colour as the War Machine. This one is a more Grey matte finish while War Machine has a slight gloss and is gun metal tone.
This photo was using the simple portrait image and that’s just a small part of my collection. Tell you more about the Batman: Batsuit Begins in the next post.
