This post is a follow up to the one on the Batmobile – my current crown jewel in my collection of Hot Toys.
For starters, it arrived way to early (not that I’m complaining) but it arrived a week after I collected my Batmobile and about 2 weeks ahead of schedule. Then again you know how these things are, they get released in Hong Kong and usually I’d have to wait about 4 to 6 weeks before it arrives in Singapore for me to collect.
To my surprise I got this baby at a time where I was barely over the excitement of collecting my Batmobile, that’s why I took so long to write this post cos now it’s all sunk in. Haha!
Well I missed out on the first version of this Iron Man Mark 1 and just like many fans, we’re quite grateful that Hot Toys decided to release an update version of this. Just as well because the company has gotten a lot better at sculpting and the materials have improved.
This version called 2.0 comes with a flame to depict the escape scene from the caves in Iron Man 1 where the armor uses it’s flame thrower. I initially planned to display this like the Hall of Armors where it stands with the Mark 2, 3 and 4 but looking at the base and this huge flame, I think it deserves to stand on it’s own.
Simple piece of work but it’s a beautiful piece of art. One of the surprisingly better than expected releases of the year for me.
