With the Miss Earth Singapore 2011 finals coming up in the second half of the year. Those who surived the first round of interviews were put through the John Robert Powers International Personality Development program which touches on developing communication skills, presentation and image enhancement.
And as the Voice Communication instructor of John Robert Powers International (Singapore), the contestants got to spend 4 hours with me learning various methods of communication effectiveness, self-confidence when speaking and my personal favorite, eye contact and body language.
It was quite fun getting everyone involved in various activities and seeing the progress as the lesson went on.
In fact I had a bit of a Dr Cal Lightman (From the series Lie to me) moment when I started talking about eye contact and body language. I mentioned about how to link facial expressions with eye contact
Now this was just the first level of John Robert Powers holistic 5 level program but trust me, the skills that they accuired will benefit them for a long long time.
