Have you ever climbed 73 stories, 226 metres. 1336 steps in 16 minutes before? Well I did that and almost vomited! In fact I spent most of my training days vomiting. Usually I’d start of with a 2km run just to lose some weight and build on stamina and then I’d end off with a dash up 16 stories (cos there wasn’t a 73 story building available in my neighbourhood) to build leg muscles.

The vertical marathon itself was a pleasant experience because there were all these signs posted in the stairway to encourage runners. I think the idea is not to stop and to just keep using the railings to pull yourself up.

Reaching the top of the Swisotel is at absolutely amazing feeling, running through the finish line knowing what you’ve accomplished. It was extra special for me because I had planned to take part in this event a few years back but I got diagnosed with a thyroid condition and so couldn’t take part. So this was kinda like closure for me.

Mister Young from The Drive on Power 98FM joined me for the race as well and I can tell you, we were both beat by the time we reached the top. Though I must say, I might just do it again in 2013….who knows.
