Bet you must have saw this head-liner on Yahoo about a week ago. The US is planning is very own F1 team all set to roll out by 2010……I’m excited but it’s for the wrong reasons……..tell you more later.
First things first though, F1 is the 3rd biggest watched event in the world……first being the FIFA World Cup, second is the Olympics and then Formula 1. Now the first 2 only happens once every 4 years so you see how much viewership F1 brings in per year.
It’s essentially a money making machine and so the US is getting in on it. In the big picture it would do alot for the industry.
Let’s look at the possibilities, the US has the money and resouces to develop a championship winning car. The team would probably comprise of world class engineers and where marketing is concerned………the US is tops.
Ok, those bits are ironed out and I’m sure the US driven F1 team would shake things up……..so let’s talk drivers or in my case, just driver………..yup this is the part I’m excited about.
Danica Patrick is one of the candidates to drive for the USF1 team………..shes doing pretty well and she would be the first female F1 driver if she makes it into the team. So there you have the glam factor for the sport.
Of course there is already alot of glam factor for F1 with Lewis Hamilton and what not……but a femail charmer now that would really spice things up wouldn’t it?
Imagine if she came to Singapore for the Singapore Grand Prix and won! Woah that would be interesting, first female to win an F1 race in Sg perhaps? who knows……….anything is possible.

Now then, has that got your attention………..just like the David Beckham affect, I think Danica Patrick would gain more interest in the sport and certainly it would be a boost for her as a marketing icon.
