Every year theres always a movie that no one expects to suddenly turn up and surprise everyone! Well I think I found this years surprise so far and it’s a movie I thought was gonna be a bad joke for a comedy of a superhero movie, esp with Iron Man 2 just around the corner.
And so it is Kick Ass, you know the story line is more or less about a bunch of ordinary people who play superhero, you might think it’s a comedy and yes it starts that way……..loser wants to save the world and so he orders and suit online and tries to fight crime.
Well done he does go out and gets himself stabbed and run over by a car……hahahaha….NOT! Cos that’s where things get really serious. This superhero fighting crime thing isn’t fun anymore, the harsh reality of fighting crime in dangerous conditions hits Kick Ass.
The boy is determined, he comes back for more and succeeds, gains some fame but still it’s a dangerous world out there and he learns, he gets scared and this is where the movie really starts to connect.
Take it from me this movie is brilliant, you have to watch it for yourself to understand what I mean…….I really don’t wanna give much away. A fine performance by Nic Cage too, the guy is a comic book fan but let’s face it there are no comic book hero roles that will suit him……..but he makes the role of Big Daddy his own. In fact he was at the centre of a particularly emotional scene towards the end of the film which was done to perfection.
On another note I wanted to share the character posters from the movie……..it’s really nice with all the colors blending in so nicely!
My pick for surprise movie of the year……….so far…….
