Jason Staham is back in the sequel to the successful Crank from 2006. That film was made on a budget of just 12 million but brought in over 30 millon at the box office making it a sleeper hit. I was invited to the gala premier of the movie thanks to my friend Ed from Canon.

This movie pretty much follows up from the first one. Chev Chelios is seen falling off a helicopter to his death………..or not. You see, he has an indestructable heart so it just keeps beating!

Freaky huh………well it doesn’t end there, the Chinese triad step in, scoup his body off the ground and off to a make shift operating room where his heart is removed and replaced it with an artificial heart.

His real heart is off to the black market while Chelios tries hunting it down……..problem is, he needs to constantly charge himself with electricity to keep his artificial heart beating. Now you see where the overdrive for this film begins.

I must say that if you liked the first one, this one won’t be far off your expectations but if your not used to it then well it’s probably because of the unique direction of the film. Mixed reviews indeed but the way I see it, this film is a different kind of art. Not your typical summer blockbuster yet its your typical action flick.

You were probably wondering earlier why Canon would be the organisers of this movie premier…… Well what’s interesting is how most of this movie was filmed with a Canon camcorder…….I’m not joking. How cool is that! the quality is excellent cos I couldn’t see any difference on screen. Encouragement for the budding film maker with you perhaps.

Danker out!
