If your a big fan of anime you would know it’s more than just some cartoon. The plots are usually very matured and it’s more than just a show you watch on tv, it’s an entire culture in Japan. So much so it’s spawned cosplay, whereby people attend conventions dressed as their favourite or a particular anime character.
The entire process and effort the fans take into appreciating anime should really be given credit for. And now that the year is almost coming to an end, the big question is what is your fave anime of the year.
I’ve chosen mine and it’s gotta be Macross Frontier! Before this series which paid homage to the original Macross, I was a big fan of gundam which you can tell from my collection.
But this series has helped me to appreciate a more mature yet fragile anime senario, basically what I mean is I like how they blend song, with love and action as well as death all in one fantastic series.
Ranka and Sheryl, teaming up in the final episode using their voices to lend strength to the war against the Varja.
Ozma and Cathy back together with the remaining members of the SMS….more than just soldiers, their bond really came through in the series and you could see how much of a family they were.
The love triangle never came to a close, Alto still hasn’t chosen which of the 2 songbirds to be with. He mentioned that he joined the war because of Ranka yet you can see that Sheryl loves him more…..she never admitted it but even Ranka seemed to noticed that in her.
She kissed Alto before the final battle……..not wanting to hear a response from him, an opinion, nothing……..she just wanted him to take that kiss with him into battle as she wanted to take that emotion with her as played her part in the final battle.
So there you go, my fave anime of the year, Macross Frontier!
Now that the series is over, what’s there to look forward too? Well guess whos back to complete the mission?
The Gundam Meisters return for the 2nd season of Gundam 00! Same call signs, different Gundams, they’re back to finish the mission and bring peace!
The first episode aired in Japan earlier this week and it bridges the cap from after the war to the present day which is 4 years into the future.

Ok you Macross Junkies! Big news…..May’N is coming to Singapore!
Who is she? She the singing voice of Sheryl Nome in Macross Frontier and she will be in Singapore for a mini showcase as part of the Anime Festival Asia 08!

Her real name is Nakabayashi May and she draws her pop influences from Britney Spears, Destiny’s Child, Eminem, Jay-Z, Christina Aguilera, Kelis, Janet Jackson, Jamelia who are among her fave artists.
So she’s gonna be in Singapore from 22 to 23 Nov at Suntec city, I can’t wait! I’m hoping to get a picture with her……I’ll freaking dress up as Alto if I have to!
