Ok it’s time to document my trip to the first ever Formula 1 night race. What a blast it was…….the raw power of the engines were really something else altogether…..it’s totally different from what you see and hear on TV.
I was at the Singapore Flyer which was near the Paddock area, where all the crew were. If you were there and you got lucky, you might have seen the likes of Lewis Hamilton or even some of the celebrity guests who were invited.
I stood there for abit, hoping to catch a glimse of someone famous and you know what, I was walking just 2 metres away from Mark Webber on my way to the flyer……can you believe it! I didn’t realise it was him until he turned the corner and my friend Janet pointed it out.
They don’t get anymore important that this, Flavio Briatore managing director of the Renault Formula One team and joint owner of Queens Park Rangers FC. Just the day before, his driver Fernando Alonso clocked the fastest practice time.
The team will be hoping for a good result during qualifiers for a shot at winning the first ever night race.
I’d like to take this time to thank Simon and Chris from Three Angles Production for taking me to the F1, here’s the view we had from the Bubble lounge at the Singapore Flyer!
That’s Chris who was also rooting for Hamilton. I gotta say the view was great……..we could see the turn before the pitstop and there was a giant screen so we could see everything else that was happening during the qualifiers.
Kenneth was also in the area so we took a walk back on the track after the qualifiers were done. Check out the burnt rubber man….Oooooo, race day is gonna be good!
You can just feel the raw power of the engines.
So after the qualifiers, here’s how it will look at the start of race day.
1. Ferrari’s Felipe Massa
2. McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton
3. Ferrari’s Kimi Raikkonen
Unfortunately for Alonso, his car had mechanical problems and he will therefore start in 15th position. What an uphil task it’s gonna be if he is to win.
Personally I’m rooting for Hamilton, he’s just a point ahead of Massa in the drivers championship and with just a few races to go….it’s gonna be tight.
Danker out!
