You’ve read about my Hot Toys Ironman Mark IV Secret project in my previous post, now here’s the real reason I queued up for almost 4 hours at the recent Singapore Toy Games and Comic Convention.
It was all about the Batman: Batsuit Begins exclusive. When it was first announced, everyone wanted to get their hands on it. People were buy bulks of it at Toy fairs in the U.S. and Ani-Com in Hong Kong and because it was an exclusive, they were being sold for 800 to 1000 dollars on ebay. Of course that’s over 3 times the original price…..if you can get it.
Since Hot Toys announced that it would be at STGCC 2011 and they would sell this exclusive, fans from around the region came down and some queued as early as 5am on 20 Aug at Suntec City. I heard that there were others who ignored the “no overnight queue” rule and stayed overnight anyway.
I love this figure because of the detail, using the Miniature Effect on my Canon IXUS 220 HS, you can see with the focus being on the face how realistic it looks. It really resembles Christian Bale.
And this was the suit he wore before he eventually developed it into Batman as seen in Batman Begins, hence the name Batsuit begins. The harness especially has had a lot of work put into it because every buckle literally works.
So what I’ve done is to pair it with my Batman DX02 from The Dark Knight so you see 2 different versions of the suit. One remains as Bruce Wayne while the other shows a more advanced Batman with the Batpod slightly elevated at the rear end.
I have no idea what Hot Toys will come up with next but I love the absolute detail they try and put into their work. I figured I use the Batarangs that came with the DX02 just to add a cooler effect to the display.
