This is my favorite topic, movie replicas and in most ways I’ve fulfilled a childhood dream by finally owning a Robocop figurine. Well it’s not any toy, it is Hottoys replica of the Robocop 3 version in great detail.
In Robocop 3, Alex Murphy aka Robocop had lots of add ons which to me made the character more cool and interesting. He was no longer relying on his side arm alone but a detachable Machine gun / smart bomb launcher / flame thrower all in one as well as a flight pack which he used at the end of the film.
The movie had it’s fair share of critics with many saying it was not as dark as the original and it lacked the violence which is trademark of the harsh streets of Detroit City in the franchise.
This replica is not easy to pose because the flight pack takes up a bit of weight so it can be off balance but once you get it right, it’s a joy to look at.
I got lucky with this one, managing to find a seller who had previously opened the box so it isn’t Mint Sealed In Box hence lower cost….phew.
Speaking of box, I gotta say this is one of the nicest boxes from Hottoys. I mean just the box alone can be a display.
With a reboot of the film franchise being negotiated with different directors wanting to get on board and different screenplays being looked at, this version will always be one of my favorites and I’m glad I can put it up on my toy rack and fill this piece of the puzzle.
