It’s the season to be jolly! On 25 Dec, POPCulture Online was officially launched at the small gathering with most of the POP Crew at my home office. Lots of special appearances were made as well including a very large chocolate bar which stole the show.
First up is one of the crew from my own entourage team and the brains behind this website, Sebastian back from London starts the little photo marathon with the Hershey’s 2.26 KG chocolate bar!
Up next the consultant of POP Culture Online and her other half eager to take a bite out of the bar!
POP Culture Online is a magazine that promises to take a “For fans by fans” approach as we cross between the east and west popular culture of comics, superheros, movies and music!
I was going for the mugshot approach…..while Ivy was a little more bubbly about the massive chocolate bar.
The idea of POPCulture Online was conceived one Sunday afternoon over an Iced Lemon Tea and Sprite as the 2 founders Elliott Danker and Kenneth Wong decided to take their pop culture hobby to the next level.
Ah yes the happy couple Tissa and Vanessa who returned from Europe less than 24 hours earlier dropped by look jet lagged, awesome how we managed to contribute by making them eat that chocolate….keke!
Since it’s official launch on 25 Dec 2010, POPCulture Online has had 2500 hits, with most page views at the Tron Legacy review page as well as the POP of the month story which features Olivia Wilde and Beau Garrett.
There’s the co-founder who decided that the best gift to bring to a gathering was lots and lots of chocolate. Now you can’t fault him for being cheap by bringing chocolate cos that whole bar costs 60 bucks!
With it’s impressive start, POPCulture Online looks set to break barriers in 2011 with coverage of some of the biggest upcoming blockbusters as well as interviews with some very cool and well known Japanese pop Icons.
Ming…..who suffered from coco poisoning the net day…. Looking at this picture you can’t help but think he asked for it.
For those looking for some nostalgia, POPCulture Online has a section called POP Retro which will feature old favorites like M.A.S.K., Saber Rider, Starcom and this month’s spotlight, Doraemon.
As for Eugene, he didn’t expect the chocolate to be that rich thinking that a big piece would not be a big deal……..btw I still have half of that bar in my fridge. I have no idea how I’m going to finish it.
Watch out for some special contests over the next few months at POPCulture Online as we try our best to reward our readers with awesome treats to be won. POPCulture Online recently closed it’s Tron Legacy competition in which someone will walk away with a Tron Evolution Xbox 360 game.
Well we eventually got down to launching the magazine and we did it in style with an IPad and my frame of Chirashis in the background.
POPCulture Online January 2011 features Olivia Wilde on the cover with coverage of the recent Singapore Toys Games and Comics Convention as well as interviews with covergirl Olivia Wilde and Tron Legacy co-star Beau Garrett. All this courtesy of Walk Disney Motion Pictures Singapore.
