After months of planning and rehearsals, the big night finally came on 17th Sept 09, the Miss Earth Singapore 2009 coronation night held at the Bellini Grande. I can’t begin to tell you how excited I was having helped out with this event for a few months now.
Adding the power of produced elements like voice overs to make the show an even more enjoyable experience. Here’s the run down from the photos provided by Kenneth.
Rob Collins and the Bellini Grande House band kick started the event, warming up the crowd with a brand of familiar jazz numbers.
Into the show proper and girls came out with various outfits like the cocktail dresses, the bikinis and the redesigned outfits. Now this segment is a trademark of Miss Earth Singapore because it is the use of the contestants old clothes turned or combined to form new redesigned ones. Waste not as the saying goes.
The night of competition went on to the evening gown and cutting the 13 contestants down to the top 8. Pre-judging was already done on the 5th of Sept so all the contestants could do was to just enjoy being on stage and put on a good show.
Of course after the Top 8 was reveiled, the dreaded Question and Answer segment came from out panel of judges before that number was cut to the Top 4, following another round of Q and A and then……………the handing over of titles.
The top 4 from last year came out for a final walk and to talk about their experience being part of the Miss Earth Singapore 2008 campaign.
Of course the queen, Ivy Leow came out last to give her final walk and she reminded us that her journey was not over as she would still be advocating the Environmental cause she has stood for during the past year.
Here are more features from my other underground celebrity photograper, Ed.
First, thank you Dr Martens for loaning me these bling bling shoes………wooo they really got people’s attention! Hahaha!
The panel of judges included, Samuel Seow, Geraldine Tay, Timothy Go, Calvin Cheng, Howard Shaw and the beautiful Nadya Hutagalung………..man I’ve always dreamed of meeting her. How to concentrate on stage you tell me.
My co-host of the evening was Genecia Luo, former Miss Singapore world 2006.
And last but not least……….here is your winner, Valerie Lim, Miss Earth Singapore 2009. She will go on to represent Singapore at the international finals held in Manila next month.
Congrats again to Cheryl Hansen of C T Hansen International on the success of this event!
Danker out!
