Recently I purchased a Pheonix figurine from a toy fair at the Singapore Arts museum. It’s rare that I come across the Pheonix from Marvel comics so I didn’t want to pass of this opportunity…..however it wasn’t quite to my liking.
Some modifications had to be made so I sort out for inspiration and found it here.
First here’s a shot of The Pheonix I bought before some ‘redesigning’. As you can see, she looks like abit of an evil slut with too much pointy parts….hahaha!
Sand paper, paint and some markers were the order of the day as I started by sanding down the pointy edges around her legs and hands.
Next was the base layer of green paint to depict the original colours of The Pheonix and yellow for the gloves and boots area.
The yellow belt is made out of thick paper and the black areas around the Pheonix logo were done with a regular black permanent ink marker. Well mine didn’t turn out as nice as my inspiration’s but hey I’m happy.
There you go, The Pheonix now looks alot more friendly and stands out just find next to Captain America and Iron man on my table!
Good colour combination too. This art thing can be therapy I tell you cos the entire process wasn’t difficult at all, I really enjoyed it.
Danker out!
